A volcano on the Italian island of Stromboli has erupted.

A first major explosion was recorded on September 29.
The alert has been raised, and "a situation of enhanced volcano imbalance persists".
No casualties have been reported.
The Stromboli volcano is one of the most active on the planet.
The volcano has been erupting almost continuously since 1932.
